700 YEARS OF WINE HISTORY
This up and coming winery is named after the Sileni who featured in the roman mythology alongside Dionysus , the Greek god of wine. The Sileni enjoyed good wine, good food and good company. When the winery opened in 1999 it represented the single largest investment in the history of the New Zealand wine industry.
Sileni's modern new and state of the art winery is committed to providing ultra premium quality wines that achieve world status. The Winemaking Team led by Chief Winemaker Grant Edmonds has many years experience in both New Zealand and in Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, California and Oregon . They maintain high standards in environmentally sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices.
The focus at Sileni is on making world-class wines that reflect the old world structure and the new world fruit of New Zealand. The Avery family, which owns Sileni Estates in conjunction with Edmonds Family ,has shown tremendous dedication to quality and craftsmanship making these wines some of the greatest at their respective price points. Crafted using traditional techniques , the wines are complex and mouth filling , with great finesse The first vintage was in 1998 and since then the wines have won an outstanding score of worldwide awards & acclaims.

Cellar Selection
A range for everyday drinking. The Cellar Selection is based on rich, soft and approachable hand-crafted wines. They are made for early enjoyment , but may be cellared with confidence. Cellaring 2-4 years.
Estate Selection
This range has established Sileni's reputation as a producer of ultra-premium quality wines. The dry gravel soils and ideal climatic conditions of Sileni's vineyards combine with traditional winemaking methods to produce concentrated, complex and harmonious wines.
